Post Placement Visit and IEP

Today we had Charlie's 6 month post placement visit (a little early) with the social worker from our local adoption agency who did our home study. We had a new social worker since our first gal left the agency to pursue a new career. She was very nice, and very fast. During our initial visits the social worker was very chatty and stayed hours. This gal told us the visit would be 45 minutes. I found that so hard to believe since she had never met us before. She was outta here in less than an hour! Asked how it was going, what his strenghts and weaknesses were and if we had any concerns. She took the pictures we had scanned and that was about it. Short and sweet.

On the other hand...we had Charlie's IEP this afternoon today as well. It actually went well, too. I have no voice because I am sick so I can't do any talking anyway! He will get one hour of speech services a week--45 minutes individually and 15 with me for some parent training or teaching. Charlie qualified for fluency issues. He does some stuttering which we would like to monitor. It was fascinating to hear her talk about the "profile" for kids who have fluency issues--higher than average intelligence, sometimes English as a second language, non-stop talkers, often kids who interupt, sensitive boys. Fit Charlie EXACTLY.
