Well, the past two days Charlie has hugged me and said "I Like you Momma". My response (wondering why he didn't say "I love you") was "Well, I LOVE YOU!". He just hugged me the first time and left it at that. Today, while I was carrying him into school he said "I like you, momma" and he wrapped his arms around my neck. I once again told him "Well, I love you! and I like you, too!"
I have been thinking about this for two days now wondering why he would spontaneously say he likes me.
I will say, that Mondays are sometimes difficult days around here. The kids are all back to school, Randy is back to work and it is just me and my Charlie Bear. He is "fine" if we are going out or running errands, but the stay at home and hang out stuff he has a difficult time with (ex. naughty, touching things he knows he shouldn't, demanding things). Yesterday-Monday-We came home after my haircut and he helped me do chores (which he loves). Then we had lunch, together, at the table. After lunch it was time for his "homework" AKA speech activities from the therapist. He is a crafty guy (very UNLIKE his brother!!) and so we finished a project. We then worked on letter flash cards and number flash cards/puzzles. We practiced our "slow easy talking" to work on his speech goal. After that we worked on a handout the speech therapist gave me. All of this took about one hour twenty minutes of undivided Charlie time. He rested for an hour with a movie and we were off to school--the first "I like You" time.
Today was a normal Tuesday--I dropped him off at school before I went to work. These are good days for him because he loves school. We are in the routine of his week.
Charlie tells me he loves me, and I have no concerns about his attachment. He is a sweet, sensitive, caring boy who has learned to love us and show us with hugs and kisses. So, in the scheme of things, I guess it is great that he likes me AND loves me :)
